OUR STORY

In 1989, a few couples had the desire for something different at church. They wanted to study God’s Word and worship in a relevant way for a changing culture. So, they began with meetings in the park, then in each other’s homes. 

As they began to grow, they rented space in Payson Elementary School and then at the High School. The friendship, acceptance, and love of the people was contagious. Love for the Lord and each other were marks of this growing church. As it continued growing rapidly, the search started for a building or for land.

The land the church is now located on was purchased in three parcels. As plans to build the Worship Center were made, the congregation walked and prayed around the property and the building site, dedicating it to the Lord, and praying for wisdom, safety of workers, and God’s will as they went forward. The congregation has worshipped in this beautiful spot ever since.

We are filled with gratitude for the visionaries who humbly started Mountain Bible Church in 1989. Our desire is to continue with humility and trust in our Lord’s guidance following the example of those who started this church in the park.
